I lunch late to avoid the crowds so no problem getting a seat (2.30ish). I went for the Locomotive Special Beef Noodle, which is essential a deluxe pho. At around $70 you would expect more than your average bowl of noodles. Well, to a certain extent Cafe Locomotive delivers, at least in part. The bowl placed before me was HUGE. Not only that, it was full to be brim with goodies. Raw beef, cooked beef, beef balls, radish etc. So, portion wise no complaints. If anything, there were too many noodle

If anything, there were too many noodles (I couldn't finish them). The soup was average, a little sweet for my tasty. Some red chillies and lime pepped it up, but conspicuously absent were any herbs?! Had they run out? Pretty amiss for a Vietnamese restaurant.

In all, for a first visit it was OK. I'd go back to see what else is on offer. Not great value but OK, and certainly competitive with other Vietnamese restaurants I have been to in Wan Chai.
