Carrot cake The thing that disappointed me most about this cake was the cream cheese frosting on top. The thing that disappointed me most about this cake was the cream cheese frosting on top. It wasn’t like cream cheese frosting, but more like a thin layer of smooth, chewy, tasteless, … thing. It was easily separable from the cake. The middle layer is presumably the same thing, but is even thinner and almost undetectable. It left me craving proper cream cheese frosting like the kind on cupcakes.

The cake itself was better, but its texture was very crumbly, and it breaks apart easily. There are visible carrot shreds, but only a subtle taste of spice, which I would have preferred to be stronger. Fortunately, however, it wasn’t too sweet.

Shame about the frosting. Plus, the walnut on top – minor, I know – was plain miserable.

Especially at that size, I don’t really think it’s worth $25.
