叁拾咖啡室 (English name: 30 Cafe) is your typical cha chan teng. It was a place for boyfriend and I to have an early dinner somewhere in the Kwun Tong area that wasn't too pricey. It also appears the majority of chan chan tengs in the area close at night for some reason. So, we came across this place and decided to give it a try.Menu in Chinese only. There is no English menu. Menu in Chinese only. There is no English menu. There is no 10% service charge. But selection is VAST. For afternoon tea time that ends until the shop closes, the selection is huge. They even a a very big selection of vegetarian items so I guess vegetarians can eat at a cha chan teng, too.
I had the Swiss chicken wings with Hong Kong style salad ($38). The wings looked very dark in color and I assumed marinaded very well. But not enough. It was ok but not too salty. It was not braised long enough for the flavor to really seep in. The salad was ok and a fairly generous serving.
Boyfriend had the black bean beef slices stir fried with chow mein ($41). It was rather spicy. Something I didn't expect. The noodles were still crispy despite the huge coating of sauce which is a good thing. The beef was soft with no serious taste of meat tenderizer.
Food was average but it also came fast. The ice lemon tea was superb. They have wifi here and it's strong.
