Dan Ryan recently has an interesting set which is a cocktail and cake/petit four pairing. Although it states to be shared by 2, having one set alone is also possible actually.The dish was served and I initially expected there would be some introduction eg. why each cocktail would be paired with which cake or should I divide the cake into 4 and taste each cake with all 4 cocktails etc. However, it was just put down. The order in my dish was different from the menu outside. Maybe due to this mismatch, I felt this set was like cocktail and cake platter rather than a pairing experience. To be fair, being able to taste 4 cakes and 4 cocktails in $300 is acceptable but it is mainly an issue of expectation management.

Regarding the cakes, my favorite was the Hojicha but my greatest surprise is the carrot cake. Their usual carrot cake is really sweet but this mini version nailed the sweetness and I hope their usual carrot cake can follow suit.
