On one day after work, I was at the Eslite bookstore and happened upon a new cafe that opened up. Called Cafe Hay Fever, it is coffee shop found inside a flower shop. Just like it's original branch in Prince Edward's Flower Street where the cafe is found inside their beautiful flower shop. However, this one is a bit smaller.Flower shop is one on side. Flower shop is one on side. Cafe is on the other. You order and pay at the cashier and seat yourself where they will bring the food to you. Menu is on the board behind the cashier. It's in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. What they serve is various coffee and tea along with cafe style food. Like sandwiches, pastas, all day breakfasts and pastries.
As I was here for a cup of coffee, I tried their latte ($40). Latte art was a bit grainy. Coffee was a bit weak and not strong. Though they didn't overpower with milk so it wasn't watered down. It was an average cup of coffee but it wasn't over expensive so I let it slide.
With coffee, I always have a craving for cake. They only had two that day. Chocolate and a red fruit veloute. I ordered the red fruit veloute ($45). It was a pretty huge slice of cake. At least by a lot of places now a days where they only give you a small slice for double the price. The cake was tart and not sweet at all. This I didn't mind as I like sour things over sweet anyways. Cake was moist but not exceptional. For such a huge serving of cake with a very inexpensive price tag, this is clearly forgiven.
They had a promotion where if you spend $100, they'll give you a bouquet of flowers. I threw in a chocolate bar and picked this up from their flower shop area. I wanted flowers for myself so why not! They were really pretty.
Food was fairly average but price is very inexpensive. So many coffee shops now a days offer average food and coffee for double the price. So, this place is definitely value for money. Setting is quiet as it's inside a bookstore and people are fairly quiet. Atmosphere is pretty as you sit around flowers. Of course, if you are allergic to flowers, this may not be for you. But if not, a great little place to have a quiet moment from the noise. Service is friendly as well. I'll be back.
