This was one of the most profoundly disgusting food experiences I have had. Food was fine, until they served their special: severed cockroach head in a glass of cold water, which, as their waitress reminded me, was strictly off menu.I think the most interesting thing about the place was that they opened by denying, then apologising, offering free dessert (and I want to eat more after drinking this water because....?) and said in no way they could the right thing and refund me for our entire meal

Then the excuses started raining in: they don't usually serve ice water, it wasn't intentional, this water was free so they can't refund us...
It's actually really interesting. It goes to show management does not care about their reputation, and does not understand basic hospitality.

I've held jobs in the food service industry before, and I realise how difficult it is to run a clean, efficient, profitable enterprise that people enjoy eating at. But this restaurant is simply something else. It makes me sad that restaurants in Hong Kong have reached this level of sanitation and customer service, all in the interest of squeezing every last penny at the cost of their own reputation.
