A new bakery opened in Times Square with a long fancy name of La Creation & Chateraise. Under the A1 Bakery group, they now offer not only their usual bread section but they offer Chateraise cakes, a patisserie from Japan that I often find in department stores there. They not only offered fresh cakes but packaged cakes and cookies. This new store also offers salads, sandwiches, pastas and made to order hamburgers and fries.Always interested in cakes, I decided to get a couple. As a limited tim
Always interested in cakes, I decided to get a couple.
As a limited time promotion, they were offering their original flavor cream puffs for $10 instead of $12. I bought one. This was packaged in a see through plastic bag.
The outside was a bit chewy and was not much different than if you bought a regular packaged cake from the 7-11.
Inside was a wonderful slightly sweet cream and a soft vanilla custard. It was the inside that made it delicious and definitely worth $10. If it was $12, I wouldn't really bother as you get some decent ones at 7-11.
Out of sheer cuteness, I bought a panda roll cake from their packaged cakes section. This cost $15. It was packaged in a see through plastic bag.
Cute isn't it? The cake was pure yum and very moist. The whipped cream was slighty sweet with a rich milk flavor. The eyes were made of chocolate circles. But the ears were a soft chocolate mousse. There was also some chocolate mousse in the center of the whipped cream.
The roll cake was pretty good. But the puff was just alright. I'll be back as the staff gave me a bunch of coupons for discounts on their pre-made pastas, sandwiches and hamburgers. I'll see what that is about.
