Wanted something western for CNY to avoid the crowds and found this lovely spot in Kennedy Town. Out of the way, italian, and affordable, tick of my boxes! For starters we got the mixed deep fried seafood platter, fritti mare. I eat my prawn whole, tail and everything, because it's so thoroughly fried that you can crunch up everything. We also got risotto balls that I forgot to take a picture of, and it was a good mix of risoto rice with peas, then again, deep fried. The last starters were the hamachi dish which was just alright. But our seafood crusade doesn't end there! Our first pasta was the spaghetti aglio oli with razor clams ($185) and it was goooood. Texture of the spaghetti was just right, and it's just an olive oil sauce but it was the pasta so fresh and appetizing that I gobble up my share in nooo timeee.
The rest of the mains we got at @trattoriapiccolo.hk were nice toooooo this roasted threadfin ($150) was surprisingly soft and juicy. The tomato confit was so flavourful it was a great combo with the fish, of course won't say no to a couple clams either.
We had space for more food so we added a caserecce meat ragu ($130). Unfortunately, that took more time than expected but the staff knew, so they gave us a round of limoncello to pass the time~ When the pasta came, it was piping hot and the cheese had just reached prime pulling stage. Awesome al dente pasta, could probably wolf it down on my own! We finished off with a tiramisu that had too much biscuit as you can see, so I would say get pasta, then some more!
