Walking along Sham Shui Po, we came across this place called M.E.C. Egyptian Halal Food. It was a small take away only stand. But what stopped us in our tracks (or more like boyfriend's tracks) was this: Spinach and Chicken Fried Bread. What was that?????They also offered other items. Menu is English and Chinese with no 10% service charge. They serve Egyptian food but some of it seemed a bit Indian?? But then again, I'm not too familiar with Egyptian. We got a Spinach and Chicken Fried Bread ($12)

We got a Spinach and Chicken Fried Bread ($12). The staff reheated it for us so it was piping hot. So hot, we had to wait a bit before eating it.

The bread was crispy and felt more like a pita bread as it was hollow inside. The stuffing was a mix of spinach and chicken with tomato sauce. I think I was expecting more spices? Like a zatar or dukkah? But we didn't really taste much of it. Well, until we got really into the spinach. I guess there could have been more.

Fairly inexpensive and something I've never tried before. Unsure if we'd be back but who knows?
