Came here for dinner as boyfriend and I were too tired after three days of art fairs and wanted something convenient. Never trying this place before, but noticed it was fairly busy, we gave it a try.Glee Cafe is fairly clean as cha chan tengs go. They have all the basic cha chan teng food. Glee Cafe is fairly clean as cha chan tengs go. They have all the basic cha chan teng food. Menu in Chinese and English. Staff do speak English as well. We ordered two items to share. One was fried garoupa with cream style corn that included a bowl of rice and daily soup (either borsche or Chinese soup) and baked pork chop rice set (included a drink).
Fried Garoupa with Cream Style Corn Set ($55).
I didn't want borsche so chose the daily Chinese soup. This was your typical Chinese soup that cha chan tengs serve. Just sweetened broth with lotus root and pork. Fried garoupa with cream style corn sauce was pretty bad. The fish was tough and over fried. There was way too much flour coating as well. There wasn't enough sauce. Baked Pork Chop Rice ($50). This comes with a drink (boyfriend ordered ice lemon Ribena). The pork chop was not only dry but only a few slices on top. The rice, usually stir fried before baking was not and just regular rice, baked. The sauce was just not enough and just tasted like ketchup anyways. Never had such horrible baked pork chop rice in my life (oh yeah ... except at my work canteen but they only charge me $26 and not $50). Will not return again.
