i went there for my birthday dinner a couple of months ago after seeing all the positive reviews.first of all, the place was cramped. the decorations did nothing to lessen the feeling of being stuffed underground, nor did they convey any sense of an authentic italian restaurant. as for the food...... we ordered a foie gras pasta, sole fillet, and veal. (forgot what we ordered for appetizers). I guess I expected a lot from the pasta, but it just turned out to be pasta with cream sauce and a piece

as for the food...... we ordered a foie gras pasta, sole fillet, and veal. (forgot what we ordered for appetizers). I guess I expected a lot from the pasta, but it just turned out to be pasta with cream sauce and a piece of pan fried foie gras ladened with fat and..... fat. it was s.o. heavy. The sole fillet and veal tasted okay, but they look like something from a dinner set at a cha chang tang. The food were sprawled across the plates with boiled baby carrots and peas as sides, and it just felt sad seeing how overcrowded plates were, especially with the unnessessarily huge splash of boring brown gravy.
i had my birthday cake from zoe afterwards... which i must say was the best thing in the whole meal... except my mom kind of spoilt it by putting a singing birthday candle on top that wouldn't stop singing... oh well thats another story... still thanks mom!!
on the up side, the service was quite good and the mananger-like man chatted with us like we were frequent-diners.
maybe i expected too much... but this was just a complete letdown. there are so many other restaurants that offer much better food at a similar price. and i have no idea why i was stupid enough risk it on my birthday by putting an over abundance of faith on openrice reviewers.
