It's Sunday and it's the day we eat out almost both lunch and dinner. This time, we pick something we have tried before - The Pond. Mainly because it has nice outdoor seating and the weather was quite nice that night. We thought it's safe to pick The Pond since we had good Beijing Duck Wraps last time we were here, so we decided to try their other dishes. This time, we pick something we have tried before - The Pond. Mainly because it has nice outdoor seating and the weather was quite nice that night. We thought it's safe to pick The Pond since we had good Beijing Duck Wraps last time we were here, so we decided to try their other dishes.

I let my husband ordered what he craved for, but some dishes turned out to be the worse dishes we have had in awhile...

The least expected is to have the simplest sauté egg tomato with noodle to taste bad. IMHO, maybe the chef was trying something new and different, but it tasted like a plate of catch up poured over the noodle and served to us. I truly think anyone could cook better than that.
. The catch-up taste was so overwhelming that you could not taste the tomato, the egg nor the noodle. I took a few bites and had to set it aside.

Next dish came was the Spicy Oil Grouper Fish (Shui Zhu Shi Ban 水煮石斑 ). The dish came out fairly quick, and look quite authentic. I could not wait to have some spicy food to clear out the catch up taste in my mouth, but next thing I realized the catch up tasted better than the fish.
I am not sure what fish I ate, but it was so fishy that I could not eat another piece. So I thought i was the only one have problem with the fish, I asked my hubby to taste, and he also felt it was too fish for fresh Grouper. Not sure what type of fish they used, but it did not taste fresh to us. We told one of the head waitress, she said she will take it to the kitchen and check with the chef for us. But 2 minutes later, another waiter came back and told us that's how this fish should taste like. So I did not want to challenge him and just to ask him to bring the dish back. I tried to eat other stuff in the dish, but there were only tofu skin and clear noodle, no other veggies inside like other places served.

It was a very disappointing experience tonight as the two main things he craved for did not turn out well at all.
. We also have other dishes that might and they met standard expectation. Nothing worth for me to rave about....

WORD OF ADVISE - don't ask to change the dish if kitchen is not willing to offer a replacement as you never know what's added to your dish.
