Taste:
Tuna tarts: Firstly came was the Tuna tarts, which was complimentary. It was a bite size which tasted very nice. Not enough mayonnaise though, so if anyone dislike fish or tuna in general plaese do not try. the tart itself is shortcrust tart, rich in butter flavour and very crunchy. Very nice
Bread: Basket of bread was also available with very nice soft butter. The bread was warm and soft. Seems like it was freshly made or heated back up. It was very nice indeed.
We ordered two set dinner as they seem like a good deal. With a starter and main course. Although nothing stood out from main course but still managed to choose.
STARTER
Salad: This was the salad. Nothing special at all. I usually have alot of greens, so this small plate was definately not enough for me. there were lettuce, tomato, sweetcorn etc. Nothing special about this dish.
Parma Ham: I am Parma ham super fan! But this is the first time I have had parma ham with pineapple. And I think this is my last time. I did not like the combination. pineapple was can pineapple, bit too sweet and too dominant, all i could taste was the pineapple and not the parma ham. in the end I gave up on the pineapple and had the parma ham by itself.
MAIN COURSE
Roast Chicken breast with mushroom Angel hair pasta: When the dish arrived I was quite shock to see the dish. The mushroom with the pasta was chinese mushroom. I have never had chinese mushroom with western pasta? and this is meant to be an Italian restaurant? The chicken barely had any meat, it wasn't crispy. So I can not comment on the taste because I did not even taste much of it. The angel hair pasta was not al dente, it reminds me of eating Chinese vermicili especially with chinese mushroom. I like chinese mushroom alot but not in this type of chinese plus western fusion dish. i don not recommend this dish at all.
Steak with vegetables: My companion ordered medium rare steak but it was definately overcooked and not hot enough. It was rather cold. Though he said it tastted okay but bit dry and not enough juicy. there wasn't enough sauce either. The vegetables were fresh and nicely done but portion is abit small.
DESSERT
Double Decker Chocolate fondant: This is probably the ONLY meal I have been anticipated for! I ordered it when i booked the table and told them it was our anniversary. i requested not to have the candle but somehow they gave it to me anyway. On the call, she did say the chocolate fondant would be too much for 2 people as usually for 4 people, but I insisted to have it anyway.
It looked so irresistable!!! it was so nicely made. Very big indeed and was so warm when it came. It is actually two different size chocolate fondant, one on top of another. I ate the top layer first. After first two spoon I realize it was abit bland. I realize i usually have it with ice cream. So I requested for a scoop of ice cream. he told me will be charged 20 hk dollars. For a scoop? YES! well I ordered anyway, which took them abouut 8 mins. How long does it take for them to get me some ice cream. but once the ice cream came, i realize it was ICE COLD! So cold, I could not even dig in. But absolutely perfect with the Chocolate fondant!!!
the chocolate fondant is absolutely gorgeoussssssss. With the melted chocolate flooding out. I had a scoop of ice cream with every spoon of chocolate fondant. But the scoop was so small, there was not enough to the bottom layer. i would recommend to have 2 scoops of ice cream! YUM!!
BUT TOWARDS THE END, WITHOUT THE ICE CREAM, IT WAS ABIT TOO SWEET AND BIT TOO MUCH. I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU TO SHARE THIS WITH A COUPLE OF PEOPLE.
Atmosphere: it looked quite nice as i walked in the restaurant. QQuite tidy and not as big as I thought it would be. basica colour was white and creamy colour so was quite bright inside. It gives a very calm feeling to you. We sat by the window, the lady who took my booking asked if it was special occasion, i said yes, so she gave me a very nice seat. But all the tables are so closely packed together, not much privacy and like some review, it seems more like chinese dai pai dong from the atmosphere. alot of people chattinga nd too loud.
Service: service was good especially with the lady who answered the call. Very pokite and helpful and even arranged a better seat for me as it was my special occasion. Everybody else was polite and helpful too APART from there was one waiter. he was older, round bout 35-40 years old. He was rude, scruffy and his attitude was bad. He was the only let down in the service.
