I've attempted to write a review for this place multiple times, but have always eaten the food before i manage to take a picture of it. This time is no exception. In my experience of trying many places to try and satisfy my mainland Chinese in-laws' pickiness, this place excels with no competition. Aside from general praise for taste, the best compliment i can give about this place is that they dont cut corners: the little things matter to them, and they all add up.
The pickled lettuce used in their 酸菜粉絲炖豬肉 (pickled lettuce glass noodle pork belly stew) is easily the highlight of the dish, enhancing but not overshadowing the pork and glass noodle main attraction.
The tofu skin that comes with the 京醬肉絲 is far superior to what you can normally buy for yourself in HK.
The noodles and dough for the noodle and dumpling dishes are obviously home made and give life to every dish they are used in.
The leek and egg fried pancakes have so little oil it's hard to believe. They are dry as a bone and full of all the right flavors, not soaking, salty, oily messes.
The dishes that really shine in my mind are the ones i mentioned. In addition though, i highly recommend the cold noodled with egg, cucumber, and soya beans, the fennel steamed buns, and the boiled dumplings. The main reason i dont have a wider array of recommendations is that we generally order just these dishes because we enjoy them so much, but i encourage you to explore the menu, as our adventuring thus far has been well worth the risk.
