By the name of the restaurant, you may know that they features mentaiko which is the delicacy from Fukuoka in Japan. Freeflow Santory Whisky Soda ($148)

With $148 after 9pm on Mon - Thur, you may enjoy free flow of fizzy whisky soda which was not sweet at all because they uses soda water, which I really enjoyed. If you wish to have a stronger taste of whisky,  you may ask for less ice. It was actually pretty filling since it was bubbly, so we only had 1.5 glasses during our dinner.

Four pieces of plump oysters were floating in the creamy mentaiko sauce. The sea water taste was prominent and complimented well with the fishy mentaiko taste. The freshness was overwhelming, even the mixed veggie was really tasty!

The sweet and fluffy egg was wrapping around some savoury fishy mentaiko. The balance between the sweet and savoury was just right. The firm yet soft texture was really enjoyable to me. As an egg and mentaiko lover, I really enjoyed this dish which had everything I wanted, literally.

Chili sauce

By the way, the restaurant offers a special chili sauce which is to pair with the mentaiko from Fukuoka.

We have ordered the salmon and amberjack rice and it comes with some egg, mentaiko, and some shredded seaweed.

Some condiments were also provided on the side and they are green scallion, spring onion, black and white sesame seeds, some more seaweed, and wasabi.

It is recommended to mix the dry rice and enjoy it first, then mix in the condiments for another experience, lastly, add the tea to make ochazuke.

We have followed the steps and found that ochazuke actually tasted the best but I guess it really is down to the personal preferences. The ochazuke is warm and hearty. The light tea flavour went well with the mixed fresh fish and comforting Japanese pearl rice.

I have also put those two pieces marinated burdocks on top to give an extra savouriness to the ochazuke.

The serving size was generous and was just perfect to share among two people!

Tararan Sweet rolls (3pcs) ($38)

At first I thought it was another egg based dessert but found that it was actually a pancake wrapping around two flavoured cream and they were mango and strawberry. The light and refreshing fruity taste was scrumptious and it has become my favourite dessert from the restsaurant. I highly recomnend you to try this if you are not too full since it was not super filling .

You may buy it in box which costs $150 for 4 pieces. This is a very dense and creamy yellow sweet potato cake, topped with some black sesame seeds. The sweetness was extraodinary and tasty. This is perfect for those who love sweet potates! For me, it was a little bit too rich after a satisfying meal so I would rather prefer something lighter.

Apart from food, you may also purchase some souvenir for your friends if they are mentaiko lovers. I think their mentaiko dishes are not bad but I think the original raw and grilled mentaiko might be better so I am coming back again next time. Also, dessert is something not to be missed from the restaurant because they are very affordable for only $38 each and they are all very interesting and tasty at the same time!
