A regular weekday evening, a friend took me into a grill room. the space wasn't that big but table size is comfy for 2 people with the whole meal on. We arrived around 6:30 and i thought a bit too early for my usual dinner but hey before 7:00, 80% of the tables were filled by patrons .... guess it is wont be easy to get in without reservation. and later we learnt that if you book through "sevenrooms book", there may be special discount, and if you dont mind, the restaurant could send exclusive
Back to the order Menu-wise, simple yet already a great variety of choices and flavours.
they serves literally all types of meat and cuts. and with carbs like pasta or rice or mash or salad. the combinations and flavours paring sounds so match and could not go wrong. Well but simple usually is the most difficult. with a few minutes of struggle, we decided to go for a mini- "Surf and turf" in here i felt like eating in that fancy home-decor store, the palm leaves and ferns, brass colour, different textures of furnitures , you see what i mean?? they got an open kitchen and you can see the fire and grill but is not too greasy and smokey in the dining area, the ventilation in there was quite good. i really dont like leaving a restaurant and whole body covered in smell.
hearing the sizzling from the grill got our appetite up.
so we ordered truffle fries, thick and crispy, still tasted good even it cooled down
seared tuna salad, like this kind of "lightly-cooked" fish sometimes tasted better than sashimi, add a bit of texture and less raw in taste.
cherry tomatoes, cucumber and mozzarella tossed salad with a balsamic vinegar and sesame oil dressing. roasted almond flakes on top and garnished with a bit of chives. loved the tiny mozzarella cheese balls
scallop linguine with lobster bisque and salmon roe. bursted with sea umami. tender scallop, rich sauce and a tingly saltiness from fish roe.
recent chef's special was beef tenderloin. default to be served in medium which was perfect as the meat was so thick and definitely enough for 2 persons, the meat wouldnt be too over by the remaining heat.
the meat was covered in a thin crust with herb and seasoning, grilled perfectly to be juicy and tender inside and the crust didnt turn charcoal. truffle mashed potato and vegetable were also cooked consistently. beautiful plating in french country cuisine style, definitely one of the best steak in recent years.
after all great dishes and there was still some room for final dessert. so we ordered dessert of the day. always like surprises. and today was passion fruit chocolate tart. sour mix with bitterness, what a great finale.
