Eating out on weekends in Hong Kong and Causeway Bay for that matter has always been the number one evening  not to eat out for me. Not only do you have to wait hours in line for a table but once in, the staff quickly usher you out the door the minute your fork hits the table.

But alas ... it's also the only day of the week to meet up with friends who work regular office hours.

So, on this Saturday evening,  a friend and I met up at Pizza Express in Times Square. One of many branches in the city. Serving pizza and pasta at a reasonable price that are along the lines of PIzza Hut but in my opinion, much better. And for some reason, this place is always easy to get a table, with no wait time. AND we sat for a good four hours and they didn't kick us out!

Menu is in English and Chinese. They have a la carte options and set menus. We went with the two person set menu that included a salad, appetizer, pizza and two drinks for $298. The  choices on the sets were varied and quite  a decent selection. It was no wonder so many went with the set.

The salad we chose was  a Nicoise salad. The greens were fresh and I love egg on my salad. They added two bread sticks which I thought were fantastic as they tasted like pizza crust.

Our pizza came next and it was a ham and mushroom pizza. The pizza dough is made fresh and in house, You can see the staff tossing the crust in the air in the open kitchen in the back. This was a decent pizza. The crust was crispy and yet soft. The amount of toppings was fairly generous though I wish they were more heavy handed on the cheese.

While munching on our pizza, we were wondering what happened to our appetizer when it arrived last. It should have arrived first but oh well...at least it arrived. This was meatballs in bolognese sauce and it came with lovely doughy balls of bread that tasted  like pizza crust! I actually liked this most of all. Dipping the bread into the rich tomato sauce. Though the meatballs were a bit mushy and not that great. But I loved the bread balls so this dish was mostly forgiven.

Fairly inexpensive but yet filling  meal. Service was fine even though our appetizer arrived last. We stayed a long time and wasn't ushered out so we could keep on chatting. Bread was the best of all.
