Occasionally I would like a bowl of steaming hot Congee accompanied by a couple of side dishes.

We walked pas this eatery and it looked so clean and welcoming that we decided to check it out.

Our order:
Sampan Congee
Thousand year egg and lean pork Congee
Chaa Leung
Shrimps Cheung Fan
Fried turnip cake
Fried noodles

The Sampan congee was a surprise as we did not know what exactly to expect. It was a big bowl of steaming hot surprise Congee. It was richly filled with dried pork skin, cuttlefish, some minced meat and topped of with scallions, peanuts and fried dough stick. Very yummy.

The thousand year egg and lean pork Congee wasn't bad either. Very aromatic and rich in thousand year eggs and pork. A classic.

Without doubt we finished the Chaa Leung in a very short amount of time. The fried dough was still very crispy and the Cheung Fan at the outside was soft and chewy, you can taste that it is freshly made.

Then came the Shrimps Cheung Fan. It took a bit longer to arrive, but that's because they made it fresh per order. Through the front kitchen window we saw the cook preparing our Shrimps Cheung Fan and it arrived directly when she finished preparing it. Shrimps tasted sweet and had a good bite to it without being mushy.

Our fried turnip cake arrived, there were four thick slices. To my liking I would prefer them to be fried a bit more golden brown, but the sweet taste made up for it. Also the turnip cake had a good filling of Chinese sausage, Shitake mushrooms, and dried shrimps.

And there was also our order of fried noodles. It's classic to accompany fried noodles to a bowl of Congee. No complaints here, not oily and I always love to put the condiments on the fried noodles to spice it up. They have several condiments on each table to add extra flavour to your order: chilli sauce, hoi sin sauce, peanut sauce, soy sauce, sesame seeds, salt and pepper.

They provide a very handy menu with both Chinese and English, and they have special offers for a bowl of Congee (selected items) and a side dish for (I believe) only HKD30.

This became instantly one of my favourites and I will definitely for sure visit this eatery again.
