Every time I go to The Fairway Grill at the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club it feels like home. Growing up my family would always go there for the Sunday lunch buffet, so revisiting frequently brings back memories. It’s a welcoming, warm atmosphere where everyone greets you by name, like a “Cheers” environment for members. The dining experience at a private club fundamentally feels different, compared to dining at a normal restaurant. The dining experience at a private club fundamentally feels different, compared to dining at a normal restaurant. Staff are jovial and conversant, and go to maximum lengths to satisfy any request. They are also generous and offer extras at no charge, which would never happen at a normal restaurant. It’s like the server is your friend, and you are treated as one too, not as a random nameless customer off the street.
We ordered the 8-ounce sirloin, cream of mushroom soup, satay platter, shrimp on toast, and apple crumble with blood orange sorbet. All were good (not amazing amazing, but just good - kind of how food at home tastes like).
Always fun to people-watch here - sometimes you see known individuals from the entertainment political business worlds. Supposedly you can catch glimpse of Li Ka-Shing if you hang out for breakfast on early Sat morning
