After a couple of weeks back home in Canada where I've been eating a lot of Grade A prime Alberta beef that's so cheap I nearly OD'd on beef, I craved Chinese food. After trying to sleep of jetlag to no avail, I woke up around 2 PM after a restless night for some food. And yes, it's odd but after eating really fantastic Western and Mexican for two weeks that costs half the price here and tastes gazillion times better, I wanted Chinese. And what I wanted most was to come here for fishball noodles
I ordered a three variety fish with rice noodles and nori. They had mixed up my order and only gave me nori with rice noodles. I think this happens when I speak English constantly an extended period of time and my Cantonese becomes heavily accented again when I return to Hong Kong, so the waitress probably didn't hear what I said clearly enough. They apologized and gave me an extra bowl of the three variety fish with some vegetables and didn't adjust the price on my noodles so I paid less for what I got. The three variety of fish was two fish balls, two slices of fish stick, dumpling wrapped with fish meat and a roll of fish meat that wrapped a piece of jew's ear and carrot. The noodles were nice and springy. The fish balls were bouncy. The dumpling was chewy though a bit salty. The fish roll was a bit bland. All washed down with their great ice lemon tea that I love so much. Comfort food to return to.
