It’s my second time coming for lunch buffet in JW Cafe. Unlike buffet in other hotel restaurants, lunch buffet here does not provide a wide variety of food choices and expensive cuisine. It rather focuses on the standard of food provided and the decent environment. It was the Saturday before Father’s day and the restaurant was fully booked. It was the Saturday before Father’s day and the restaurant was fully booked. The lunch buffet is offered from 12:00pm to 2:30pm.
There were buffet selections for Asian-inspired Bistro, Noodle Bar, Fresh Salad or Dessert Bar. And we chose to have Full Buffet to try all of them. It was too crowded and all areas required queuing.
The food locations were a bit unclear and it was a bit messy when there were only 1-2 staff serving in each area. Food was not refilled prompt enough.
The salad was great with various choices of ingredients and sauce that you could choose from. There were staff helping you to stir and make your customized salad.
The Asian Bistro was fine with Sushi, Tempura, skewers, soups and vegetables. Although they were not very special.
The service in the Noodle Bar was a bit disappointing. They allowed you to choose freely for the ingredients to be added to your choice of noodles. There were really lots of choices ranging from veggies, meats and dumplings. However, it was too crowded that you were required to wait 10-15 minutes for your noodles to be boiled. My friend’s noodles was even being taken by others after a long wait. And he needed to make his own bowl and queue all over again. Such arrangement in a 5-star hotel was totally unacceptable.
The desserts in Dessert Bar was quite good with a range of choices from Tofu pudding to delicacies. Haagen Dazs ice cream was served. The taste was quite nice.
The taste of the food in lunch buffet is okay but there is big room for improvement for service and crowd control.
