Romaine, I can't agree with you more as we felt the same. We went to the avenue for business dinner last month. The entrance next to ex hotel, the overall environment and the price did create a tricky-class feel, that's all town gas left us when I left the restaurant.First impression is really important. First impression is really important. It was the first dish which kind of ruins my expectation. The california salad looks a perfect size for my baby of one month old, and they both are very cute and small. The mushroom soup with figs was nicely presented; however, the sip wasn't really a mouth-watering experience. Not creamy enough tastes of the soup not blending well enough.
I chose a waygu rare as my main course, cause the manager explained it’s stories behind and sound’s interesting. In fact, I have been eating Kobe, wagyu & angus for many years and I really can tell the difference between their grading. I am sure they gave me the lower grade which is not M8 (from the menu card said). I didn’t bother to say anything when the manager came and asked for the comments. I believe the chefs should know what they are doing. It's a very embarrassing situation while we have our guests together. The best dish should be the dessert - Cheesecake. The cheesecake was so smooth, not too rich yet captures the real taste.
Overall speaking, I would say we had received an not honesty dining experience.
Just not recommended... one of the worst value/money you'll ever find. BUT, service was excellent.
