Having savoured the nice miso soup ramen at the two "Sapporos" before, thought it is time for me to try the shio (salt) ramen here. Came for lunch on a weekday all by myself. Place was already fully packed when I arrived at 12:45pm - in fact, was lucky to have a seat within 5 mins of arrival. The place was decorated in a typical "Japanese" style, with tables set pretty close to one another. I was greeted promptly by the wait staff with a glass of ice-cold japanese wheat tea right on arrival, which was very refreshing indeed. Besides ramen sets they also offer other stuff like tonkasu and grilled fish during lunch time. Without a moment of hesistation, I went for the shio ramen with butter, and the ramen arrived a couple of minuted later. It was great ! Unlike miso and soy sauce-based ramen, the shio soup base was pale, clear, and had a nice yellowish hue; it was also quite flavorful, and I bet they must have included some chicken, fish and vegetables in making the soup. The "add-on" piece of butter was a bonus, and contributed to the richness of the broth
The ramen was cooked just right, and the other garnishes like pork and bamboo shoots were also fine. The ramen arrived steaming hot, and the wheat tea certainly helped to cool off the palate and tongue in-between the "surps". Portion was not small - I was glad I didn't order things like pork dumplings to go with the ramen. Price was not cheap but I really doubt whether you could get a better job elsewhere at a lower price. Will definitely be back !
