My experience here can be summed up as: We ordered Hainan Chicken Rice, Bak Kut Te, and Laksa. All were horrible.Chicken Rice's chicken had no flavor, sauces were watered down and bland (Why not just serve me steamed chicken?)Bak Kut Te was just nasty. We asked a waiter why it had a weird taste and he said the reason is that they serve Malaysian style. You pay a premium here because of the presentation, the views, and for the location (you must admit the views are nice - In fact, the food also looks nice...until you taste it)
In my opinion, you may as well save your money and spend it on a flight to Singapore. That way you get even better views, and significantly better food (even while eating Airline Food!!!!!)
To me, the best Singaporean food in Hong Kong is Katong in Sheung Wan, Mercer St. No Joke. All at 1/3 the price of Hainan Shaoye, much better quality, quantity and most importantly TASTE!
C'mon guys, the REAL reason why the chef left Chatterbox is because he MUST HAVE BEEN FIRED!
