I was by the Science Museum Road at Tsim Tsa Tsui hoping to get some Japanese food today but  didn't plan properly and ended up seeing a "will be back on Friday" on the shops' gate. So anyway, while trying to find something to eat on a super quiet Chinese New Year day, I saw this shop which has another branch back in Wanchai. I've been to the Wanchai branch before but I haven't written a review yet but I will one day. Anyway, I really love the quality back onthe island so I expect the same here.

I came into this shop half-full. And when I sat down, a surge of tourists started coming from behind me. Oh well, so much for a quiet lunch. AKorean couple decided to sit with me by the way - no problem. They took some time deciding what to order but I already knew mine ahead of time. I decided to try this branch's quality of warm beancurd that I always enjoy eating at the Wanchai branch e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y. 

The menu is both in English and in Chinese.

Their table was dirty but it's to be expected from where they are situated at.

So I ordered my usual - warm beancurd. ($13). The moment the bowl landed on  my table, I already noticed that there are grainy textures on it. The bowl is certainly bigger than the one I'm given at Wanchai. But my main concern is the taste. For a beancurd that's supposedly sweet coupled with the generous amount of sugar topping, the beancurd tatse strongly of soy sauce. You heard that - soy sauce. I wondered maybe the bottom was laced with it but after mixing,  nothing of the sort showed up. So that was really weird...

Another one I went and ordered is a stir-fry flat noodles with sliced beef ($41). I'm surprised it's not "flat noodles" as advertised but rather, it's their usual everyday noodles that they use when you order their soup noodles. Besides that, the quantity is quite fewer than in Wanchai but the taste wasn't any different, This was actually less saltier but had more curry flavor than the other branchs' to be honest.

And spareibs on rice. I don't get why it's in a plastic takeout container when it's obviously for dine in. If the chef just reheats it from their stock, at least plop it on a bowl to make it look more presentable.

My neighbors weren't impressed with the quality of food. It was showing on their faces. And it was such a waste leaving all of those behind. They barely even touched them. Even if I didn't enjoy my beancurd, I atleast finished it. I really despise wasters. 

I'm never coming back to this branch ever again. Their quality of food speaks to the quality of customers they get. God, those Mainlanders were really loud with their beautiul wives and rowdy little munchkins running around, not caring if they hit someone carrying piping hot food.

There is no 10% service tax. Cash and Octopus only.
