As a vermicelli salad lover, I order rice vermicelli salad whenever I have meals in Southeast Asian restaurants. This time I had dinner with my friend in a Thai restaurant called Mee…lemongrass. I ordered a bowl of room-temperature rice vermicelli salad with grilled pork chop. Unlike ordinary noodles, rice vermicelli noodles are thin and flexible, either translucent or opaque, mostly in white colour and are just a tad firmer when cooked. Rice vermicelli noodles are also called “bun” in Vietnames

Unlike ordinary noodles, rice vermicelli noodles are thin and flexible, either translucent or opaque, mostly in white colour and are just a tad firmer when cooked. Rice vermicelli noodles are also called “bun” in Vietnamese.
Festooned with sweet flavoured pork chop, the vermicelli noodles were flavoured with a tangy sweet and sour dipping sauce called nuo cham (the classic Vietnamese sauce mainly made with fish sauce and seasoned rice vinegar) which was the soul of a vermicelli salad.
The vital accompaniment to this rice vermicelli was a platter of lettuce leaves, shredded veggies and fragrant fresh herbs like Thai basin, mint, dill etc.. The fresh veggies accompaniment, crispy nuts topping, sweet and sour dressing, tender grilled pork chop and soft vermicelli together produced multiple tastes and texture. Overall, vermicelli salad here was a amazing dish.
However, the environment there disappointed me that it was crowded and the seats were really close to others.
