A friend who had tried, and enjoyed the Sunday brunch here at Shelter suggested we give it a go for dinner. The host met me at the podium and quickly found our reservation. A friend who had tried, and enjoyed the Sunday brunch here at Shelter suggested we give it a go for dinner. The host met me at the podium and quickly found our reservation. Being a bit early I suggested that I grab a drink at the bar and wait for my friend to arrive. I was kindly informed that the liquor license is still in the works...no big deal, there's a Park N Shop super close with a nice selection and that'll save us some $$$. Brought back a couple nice bottles and the waiter was more than happy to accommodate with an ice bucket and appropriate glassware as needed. The dinner special board sported a tempting Wagu style steak for HK 1,200 that we couldn't pass up so we decided to split that and an order of mussels. Surf and turf action! Very happy with both. The mussels were small and sweet and perfectly cooked. The steak looked like it came from a T-Rex! (Dino-steak pictured below) It weighed in at 50 oz. I would certainly recommend it. They cooked it to order and it was seasoned well. Take your time with this giant and pick the good bits off the bone. Worth the effort! All in all the service was above par, food was perfect, the steak was expensive but Wagu doesn't come cheap and it's a good one to split. In fact it would take a truckstop challenge to eat it alone. Would be a good T-shirt give away if anyone from SL is reading this.
Worth a visit if you're looking to try something new. Great date spot with romantic ombiance and a chance to show off your sommelier skills with the BYOB option.
