Mini-reunion with 3 colleagues after work. Very empty at 7pm. We were the only guests. The waiter and waitress welcomed us heartily and served us well. NOTE: HUGE PORTIONSFood: 1. Mango onion something salad: ($6x) A bit too sour for my taste, but it was fresh, and it was LARGE. The mango was sweet with a bit of mexican dressing, the raw onions were..fragrant, and they used another kind of vegetable i'm not familiar with. NOTE: HUGE PORTIONS
Food:
1. Mango onion something salad: ($6x) A bit too sour for my taste, but it was fresh, and it was LARGE. The mango was sweet with a bit of mexican dressing, the raw onions were..fragrant, and they used another kind of vegetable i'm not familiar with. Next time I would order the Classic Caesar with grilled chicken. I'm sure it'll be another bargain!
2. Nachos with guacamole, tomatoes, cheese, grilled chicken ($7x) Oh this huge tapas was glorious. So it's not exactly tapas. Generous helpings of guacamole, melted cheddar cheese, chopped tomatoes, grilled and shredded chicken. Lots and lots of lightly salted nachos (delicious). If I came here alone, I could order this dish alone, and it would've filled me up to the brim.
3. Tortellini funghi in mushroom cream sauce ($9x) oh this was SO good. you can judge by the looks of it. The tortellini was plump and juicy and very filling. The mushroom sauce was authentic, clung to the spoon, and was a delight to taste on its own. but it was very rich. The mushrooms were delicious too, thinly cut and fried i think. Well-seasoned. I believe there was some sort of meat in the tortellini, but I couldn't figure out what it was. Delicious. But very filling. ladies watch out.
4. Pizza (tandoori chicken, mushroom, cheese, spinach, olives?) This was excellent as well. Let's talk about the crust first - thin, crunchy, brittle on the edge with a bit of bite nearing the center. Very nice. You don't consume unnecessary carbs from a thick crust. No, they have a thin crust. Toppings - very generous. very authentic and one of the best pizzas I've had. Not too sour, excellent balance between cheese and other non-cheese ingredients (chicken was tasty, mushroom...a special kind of chilli sauce and sour cream) Please order pizza. It is good.
Service:
Verve is relative new I think? So the staff are a bit green. But don't let that put you off. They're just trying to make sure they've placed the right order. All smiles, attentive, polite. Love them.
Note: the waiters/waitresses are mexican/spanish, but the cooks are all chinese!
Nice little outdoor place for those who want a bit of fresh air. It's at the back.
Conclusion:
Will go again, and try different things.
