Yup. The hype is real.

Menu has various burgers of all kinds as well as pasta, snacks and salads. But I was there for one thing and one thing only ... a burger. And it had to be beef. They have a set that for the added price of a drink, you also get fries, citrus slaw and pickles. As it was my first time here, I decided on their basic burger, the Texas BBQ burger. I upgraded to the set and originally wanted a milkshake but the staff informed me that the milkshake machine is only in operation at night. As I don't like carbonated drinks, my next choice was the grilled lemon ice tea. I was then informed that grilled lemons was also available at night. Perhaps I came on a weekday for this to happen? But I thought this  is strange. So, I was stuck with four choices, all carbonated: carbonated mineral water, soft drink, beer or carbonated fruit drink. Sadly, I was forced to choose the carbonated fruit drink (aka lemon San Pelligrino) as it was the least disliked carbonated drink from the four I was offered.

Texas BBQ Burger ($88) + set ($33 for the chosen drink). The set was presented on a wooden board with their logo on it. It had a nice rustic feel. The "pickles" on the menu was actually a quarter sliced pickle. It was crunchy and I like pickles. Fries seemed to be dipped in the batter used to fry onion rings with and they were pretty good. Super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Citrus slaw wasn't so good. It just tasted like mayonnaise drenched lettuce. It was way too watery.

What about the burger? Biting into it, I felt like I had slipped into greasy heaven. The beef was moist. Juices and oil leaked all over my fingers as I bit into it. All lady like tendencies went out the door. I was given a fork and knife but COME ON! WHO EATS A PROPER BURGER WITH A FORK AND KNIFE? It was topped with crispy bacon and when I say crispy, it was like potato chip crispy! Just the way I like bacon! No one in Hong Kong does bacon this way! It was also topped with an crispy onion ring. All with a wonderful smokey jalepeno BBQ sauce. At first I feared jalepeno would be spicy but it wasn't. It was sweet with a touch oif spice. It tasted like that BBQ sauce I bring back a couple of bottles of whenever I go home to Canada. Cheese was a bit disappointing....just a slice of processed cheese slice. Something I'd expect from McDonald's and not a gourmet burger place.

One of the best burgers I've had aside from Butcher's Club. I will be back to try other items. I noticed they had a pulled lamb burger. Yeah ... will be back.
