Been here a few times now. Coffee shops are ten a penny now in Sai Ying Pun- 2 years ago there was literally nothing - so each has to steer its own way. Some have come and gone, like Yuma on Bonham Road, and some will do well. This is in the latter camp. Firstly location is excellent for the behemoth Island Crest. Firstly location is excellent for the behemoth Island Crest. It sits directly opposite the main entrance. The shop itself is very understated. No signage other than a board outside. Industrial style decor which is very functional but slightly gloomy. Some extra light would work.
Seating set up is an excellent choice. You have a small bar area, a few seats inside, a wall area that can seat inside and out (excellent idea although stating opposite someone might put some folks off) but the best is the little courtyard out the back. Pine decking and a couple of low tables provides a very pleasant area outside of the boiling hot periods.
Service is excellent. Waiting time kept to a minimum. Prices are average. Coffees are of high quality. They offer skimmed in addition to full fat and usually offer this, which is quite unusual in my experience.
There are also a few basic pastry items and some light meals. These are in the healthy category with the becoming-ubiquitous smashed avocado making an appearance. Food prices slightly above average but portions sizes look impressive.
Location and seating choices should help see this place navigate the choppy waters of longevity.
