We ordered a mini meat platter, with two different soup bases to try variety. We ordered a mini meat platter, with two different soup bases to try variety. Unfortunately I can’t handle spicy very well at all and knowing hot pot soup bases can get very numbingly spicy, we decided to go with two non spicy soups - a duck soup and a chicken soup.
The meat of the meat platter was really fresh and of good quality. I must say I enjoyed consuming the meat the most out of everything.
We also ordered this popular five coloured xiao long bao, and was given a timer of 4mins. Each coloured xiao long bao were a different flavour, eg. Black one was truffle. The outer layer and filling were both really good. However I don’t think we got to taste the soup inside because they were unfortunately slightly over cooked; the stove probably was on too high I’m guessing.
We also ordered other typical hot pot ingredients like meat balls, wonton, udon and vegetables. As for the meat balls, we ordered the pork with veggies and also beef with veggies. Personally I wasn’t a fan of the veggies that was mixed with the meat; but other than that the meat part was really good. And as for the wontons we ordered, I believe they were the truffle and prawn ones, which was really good!!
Overall, HongDing was pretty good and I would recommend/take friends to revisit the place. We were completely stuffed by the end of the meal!
