The decor is classic English pub, though clean and with beautiful copper kettles on display where their beer is brewed. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the balmy evening.

We started with the nachos chilli con carne and a caesar salad. A generous portion of nachosarrived, certainly enough for a hungry couple and a good combination of soft cheese, spicy chilli and crispy tortilla chips. The salad was fresh and well-seasoned.

This went down well with the Kiss Me Hardy stout, one of the house brews.

As mains we had the grilled salmon which was juicy with a crispy skin. We also ordered the pasta all'amatriciana which was rich with tomato and bacon, again very tasty.

On previous occasions we have tried the Hops and Glory IPA which is flavourful and a nice balance between malt and hops, and the Golden Mushroom Pilsner - crisp and refreshing. They also have a good selection of wines and ciders for the non-beer drinkers.

Service was friendly and efficient.

Overall a lovely experience, great value and one of our regulars.
