I've been searching for a good Indian place for a while now, I've probably tried almost all the ones on HK side. Most are, I have to say were over-priced and not very good to boot. So it was a decent surprise my friend Shelly (not her real name) introduced me to this place.

Unfortunately or fortunately the place was almost all reserved and packed, and since Shelly didn't make a reservation we luckily or unluckily had to sit at the table that was literally just inside the door. But the door opening or people jamming me was never an issue so it was fine in hindsight. The decor has a typical South Asian Feel to it and it maybe a bit on the dark side. I would suggest a soft spot light for each table, because Indian food is typically very colorful and the darkness kind of obscured that quality. Also if you only speak English, you are in luck since all the waitress I'd conversed with all spoke fluent English ... Score
! I know one of the waitress spoke Cantonese, but since I didn't have to fumble out the old Chinese, I don't know how good their Cantonese is.

Anyways, the service was prompt and we got a complementary appetizer of some sort of pita type bread chip with garlic vinegar and a yogurt(y) dip. Not bad and it was refreshing to the palate.

We ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala which I was hoping tasted like a Pakistani place back home in the states, Lamb Curry, and some Naan instead of rice. The Chicken Tikka Masala was really good but was missing a "kick", not quite as good as the Pakistani place I was talking about but better than anything I've had in HK so far, plus the Chicken had no bones which is crucial or that would of been a deal breaker. The lamb curry was decent enough, but the flavors were a bit weak for my taste. I am pretty good with spicy but out of kindness for my friend, we went with medium spicy and honestly I didn't feel any burn at all
which was probably what the CT Masala was missing.

Anyways my friend and I were there for quite a while and the waitress refilled our waters without asking and didn't bother us at all. Overall I enjoyed my visit and expect to go there again, but this time with a reservation.

my rating of 3 is good/pass, if I was around the area I would consider it, but I wouldn't purposely go there. A rating of 4 I would actually purposely plan to go there. A rating of 5 is well, I'll be a frequent customer.
