On a Friday afternoon, we decided to hit up Sogo's basement for the ramen. We arrived at about 12:35pm and there were 3 other people queuing in front of us when we arrived (party of 1 and a party of 2). After 5 mins, they got seated at the bench seats by the chefs. My friend and I busied ourselves with browsing the menu so that we could place our order as soon as we arrived. Another 5 mins later, we were seated and order was taken.Surprisingly, they were out of soba today?! Can you believe it?
Surprisingly, they were out of soba today?! Can you believe it? A Japanese noodle restaurant out of soba in the middle of Sogo's basement "Fresh Market"?! No way Jose. Anyway, he ordered an eel rice set instead. I had the corn ramen which meant it still had 3 slices of pork but loads more pieces of corn kernels (still filling). My ramen was fine, just the right amount of firmness - not too mushy, not too al dente. I was happy with my meal.
My friend's eel - one of the millions of tiny bones got lodged in his throat so he wasn't a happy camper and only got through half the meal. Guess the eel he's had before was better quality or a part of the eel that had fewer bones so don't think he's going to order that again any time soon.
Overall, a decent place but go early as the queues were massive by the time we left at 1:15pm.
