Six of us went to eat the Hairy Crab promo set menu and it was delicious! It began with chinese fish maw soup, which was full of flavour and had large pieces of nutritious ingredients.
Next came xiao long baos (little pork dumplings filled with soup). They were big!
Then fresh prawns stir-fried with celery. The prawns were fresh and the celery still crisp and green. Simple, light dish.
Then the hairy crabs! The advertisement boasts that we get one male and one female each, but we actually received two male hairy crabs each. Perhaps they'd run out of females? Service was good because they allowed us to each one crab each first, and then brought out the second round of crabs so they would'nt get cold while we're eating the first one. Each person was provided with scissors and a tool to extract the crab meat.
When the crabs were finished, all remaining dishes were served. We had toast with garlic and crab roe paste, crispy skin chicken, glutinous rice with chinese sausage. We were so full and still managed to fill a take-away box!
The meal was also served with two little bottles of chinese wine (similar size to little sake bottles), which went nicely with the crab.
The finish off, we had ginger sweet soup with glutinous rice balls, and massive peach-shaped 'birthday' buns with egg yolk and lotus seed paste inside.
Total price $1880 for 6 people
