Felt bad a month ago having to ring up to cancel a booking at last minute. No problem, said Dennis the Manager, these things happen, just come back again soon. So we did, 8 of us last night, and loved it. A packed Saturday night, pouring with rain outside, wife struggling on crutches, table of 20 next to us celebrating a birthday - could have been one of those nights, but it was all great. A packed Saturday night, pouring with rain outside, wife struggling on crutches, table of 20 next to us celebrating a birthday - could have been one of those nights, but it was all great. Food was perfect - we stuck mainly to pasta with a number of tasty, well-cooked dishes. No frills, you get what it says on the simple under-played descriptions on the menu, but if you want no cheese with this or extra prawns with that, all you have to do is ask. Loved the bread/cake, and a smashing little antipasto plate to start with too - cheeses, meats, olives, oils and dried tomatoes, aubergines. Wine was good - not a huge selection, but liked what we were given, even if we only realised half-way through a bottle that it wasn't the one we'd ordered. No point in sending it back, enjoying it so why cause a fuss. The staff were rushed off their feet anyway, pretty much the whole evening, but managed to keep everyone happy throughout - and a nice touch with some complimentary desserts to share at the end. The caramel banana thing my friend had was gorgeous. So was wifey's warm chocolate pudding. Some decent italian coffee, got the bill, $700 per couple, a very enjoyable couple of hours. Yes it's a bit crowded when it's a full house, but likley it's the good food that draws people in.
Overall, really impressed with this place, a great find. Go there with friends, eat tasty food, enjoy a lively atmosphere. And say hi to Dennis, top bloke. We'll be back again soon.
