Xiao Yu Hotpot Restaurant is a hotpot restaurant located in New Town Center.  But we came here one day and discovered they had a pretty good deal for a lunch set. For $98, you can hotpot for one. You order by scanning the QR code that is quite user friendly.  The menu is in English and Chinese. The set includes a choice of one or two soup bases, one meat, one noodle type and one drink. First they started us off with an appetizer. This was more like a dessert as it was a sweet with a date and snow fungus.

You can choose two hot pot soups for no extra charge so we decided to try them all.

This is the Spicy Broth and Coriander Preserved Egg Broth. The spicy broth wasn't too good. It was just spicy and not very fragrant. The coriander and preserved egg was ok but not too strong.

The other was Tomato Broth and Fungus and Mushroom Broth. The tomato broth was very rich with lots of tomatoes. The fungus and mushroom broth had a lot of mixed mushrooms found in it giving it a very umami taste. Of the four we tried, the funugus and mushroom one was the best.

Then the platters came out. Along with the meat we choose (beef and lamb), we expected some vegetables but what we didn't expect was the addition of two shrimp, a piece of honeycomb tofu, a roe stuffed fish ball and a beef ball, taro, imitation crab stick, two small cocktail sausages and daikon. For the vegetables there were two different vegetables provided. For $98, there was quite a lot of food and variety.  Items were fresh and good quality.

A fairly good deal at lunch. They did mix up the orders but these were rectified once we told them.
