蒲東小館 (English name: Pu Dong Xiao Guan) is a place we've walked by many many times in Mong Kok. We noticed it was always quite full of diners at all hours of the day especially in the middle of the afternoon. We decided to take a look and realized they offered very inexpensive tea time sets. Sets from $40 - 68 and comes with a drink including soymilk!Menu is in Chinese only. There is no English and you pay on your way out. They offer appetizer add ons for a very inexpensive price. They offer appetizer add ons for a very inexpensive price. This was Xiao Long Bao for only $25. Quite a good deal. The skin was not too thick and there was enough soup to keep the filling moist.
I had the Stir Fried Shanghai Noodle ($40). A generous portion. It was seasoned well and not too oily. Lots of thin strips of pork and mushrooms were found along with bok choy. The bok choy was a bit on the bitter side but other than that, a decent dish.
Boyfriend had the Dan Dan Noodle with Deep Fried Chicken ($40). A big portion of noodles that were very chewy and smooth. The soup was very spicy but not too much nutty taste. The chicken was just done so it still had a light blush to the meat. The coating was crispy and not too thick.
Food tasted quite good and portions were big. For this price, it was a really good deal. No wonder it was always so busy.
