This restaurant used to be my all time favourite, not only because of their authentic goodnesses but also their hard working staff. Restaurant not only open for business daily and during T8 signal but also black raining signal this time. Welcomed by their smily staff, their homey restaurant design always warming. Welcomed by their smily staff, their homey restaurant design always warming. Even it's pouring and thundering outside, it's always peaceful and totally separated from the outside world.
There's only few seats with some are high tables. Not the most comfortable ones, but I can guarantee their quality worth it!
Menu surprised me with something new, such as Nem núóng bán hòi and bánh cuón. What caught my attention still my all time favourite bánh mí. We ordered the vegetarian and the traditional ones. (I promise will come back for rest of the goodnesses and share, just because I was craving for their bánh mí today.) For drinks, we had their coconut and lemonade.
Their baguette used for the bánh mí was toasted perfectly. Golden brown with very crispy crust. Every bite was so crunchy that you could barely eat with manners. Whole face, hands and your legs would be covered by the breadcrumbs falling from the bread. Baguette was lightly buttered which gave a hint of buttery flavour. It was stuffed with huge amount of vegetables, cucumber, pickles, cilantros and spring onions. Very herby and light.
Vegetarian one was actually sandwiching a marinated stir fried bean curds. Moist and soft. Well spiced. Turmeric gave a light yellow colour with a hint of cardamom and and pepper flavour. Mayonnaise was also lightly spread. Every bite was so so so satiating. The deliciousness of every bite literally triggered your saliva excretion that I almost drooled on my beginning bites. No joke.
Original one was sandwiching pork belly. It was in perfect thin cut. Soft and fatty. Juicy and savoury. It was also spread with paté that added extra meatiness. The big handful of herbs and vegetables nicely balanced out the fattiness and heaviness of the meat. It was absolutely amazing.
Personally, as a siracha/ vietnamese chilli sauce lover, I drizzled my every bite with an extra kick which was incredibly appetising.
They used to serve coconut water in store bought packaging but this time, they changed to a whole coconut. It was icy cold and sweet. Fresh light meat which was easily scooped out. Pairing with the bánh mí, whole meal was refreshing and feels uplifting. Literally another world away from the outside heavy rain.
Lemonade was made with lemon zest and juice plus fresh rosemary. Rosemary paired so well with the lemon flavour that I couldn't flaw. With the soda water, it was another boosting drink. Brain boosted with both effervescence and citrusy.
Whole meal was incredibly good. Nothing change from my past memory. Still my all time favourite quick drop by. Highly recommend.
