Tempura always gave people an impression of being unhealthy and 熱氣. Same for us which was why we seldom craved tempura. Browsing openrice, I saw two similar tempura restaurants in the same area. I chose 天秀 purely because of its more smileys and the Japanese fruits as desserts


I managed to book two seats at the tempura counter just an hour before lunch. It was a very small restaurant with around 10 seats at the tempura counter and 1 table for 4 at a corner. It was not full during our visit.

We each ordered a Shu set with 10 pieces of tempura, appetizer, salad, tendon or tencha and dessert at a cost of $320+10%. We topped up our set by $80+10% for upgrading the tendon or tencha to a sashimi don.

We were immediately served this 溫泉蛋jelly as the appetiser. The onsen egg was delicious with egg yolk flowing out.  The jelly tasted ok too. It was a refreshing start of the meal.

We were served the tempura sauce, salt, lemon and radish before they started serving us the tempura. The radish was so cute that it was shaped like a sphere. The salt was quite salty so please don't add too much at a time. There was even a lemon juice squeezer provided on the table.

Our tempura journey soon began with the chef deep-frying our food in front of us but our views were blocked so that we couldn't directly see how they deep-fried the food. 
The chef recommended eating the 海老 with salt or lemon juice and tempura sauce for the 青蘆筍. 
The batter was indeed thin. 
The shrimp was not the best I had had, maybe because it was not meaty enough, but it was good enough. I even finished the shell of the shrimp.
The asparagus was fresh indeed and cooked well.
I didn't find them particularly oily.

So each time they served 1 piece of seafood with 1 piece of veggies. The chef recommended eating both 玉米&沙椎魚 with the tempura sauce. 
The sweetcorn was so interesting. It was my first time to eat tempura corn! It was fresh indeed!
The fish was so hot! It was so tender and I honestly thought that the quality could compare with those at Inagiku!

The 紫蘇蝦 offered a very interesting 紫蘇葉 flavour. The chef recommended eating the shrimp with tempura sauce. 
秋葵 was fresh.

The chef recommended eating the sweet potatoes with salt. I chose not so. They were so solid.
The chef recommended salt or lemon juice for the fish. Again, the fish was super tender.

The sea eel was seasoned so it was recommended to be eaten on its own without any other seasoning. There should have been plenty of 七味粉 so it was a bit spicy. It was quite tasty indeed.
The 舞茸 was fresh and yummy.

After finishing all the tempura, we were served the miso soup and pickles.
The miso soup was so delicious. There were loads of 金菇 to offer a crispy texture. It was concentrated enough with lots of tofu but not overly salty.

We decided to top up by $80+10%  to get this sashimi don instead of tendon. The sashimi were fresh indeed but they were too thin. The rice tasted good and was of the right portion. The wasabi was so fresh and delicious too!

Desserts were fruits from Japan! It was one reason why I chose this instead of another tempura restaurant nearby haha. The pears were indeed better than average ones out there. The melons were super juicy but a bit over ripe texture-wise. 

I felt quite full after the meal. Overall, the quality of the tempura was  pretty good. Service was attentive given that there were 2 chefs + 1 waitress to serve just 4-6 guests including us during our meal. At such a price, I would say this lunch was quite a good value for money. Recommended!
