A friend mentioned the cakes of Arome bakery are getting classier these days and look very appetizing. Though of course, this new trend was also reflected in the price which topped most chain bakeries. The publicity which put emphasis on the Japanese-themed delicacies worked quite well and got me into buying a few to try them out.

It is perhaps too harsh to expect the Swiss rolls to be as stunning as those from high-end patisseries, but both green tea and caramel were too dry and the cream was completely separated from the cake. The hazelnut cake was too sweet and the base pastry was not up to scratch. The least disappointing was the mango cake, and the fruit was at least fresh.

Impression: I would rather pay more for cakes with higher quality - if I were to consume the same amount of sugars and fats anyhow - for culinary indulgences.
