Tao Heung is a major restaurant group in Hong Kong. Known for reasonable prices with a decent level of quality, it's no wonder there are always long queues waiting to get in.On this day, boyfriend and I got here at 6:30 pm and beat the queue to have dinner. As they always have monthly specials, we ordered this menu as it was beyond reasonably priced. I noticed that EVERYONE in the restaurant also ordered the same thing. Seriously..EVERYONE. On this day, boyfriend and I got here at 6:30 pm and beat the queue to have dinner. As they always have monthly specials, we ordered this menu as it was beyond reasonably priced. I noticed that EVERYONE in the restaurant also ordered the same thing. Seriously..EVERYONE. Special deals menu is in Chinese only but there are photos so English only readers can pretty much guess how much it would cost. Braised Chinese Soup ($48). Boyfriend and I ordered one to share as one bowl was evenly distributed to two rice bowl portions of soup. Soup was sweet and tasted pretty good. It was also super hot. Swiss Soysauce Chicken ($34). This is what we sat in disbelief over and when I told my coworkers they all couldn't believe how cheap this was. This was a whole chicken. For $34. How can one make a profit? It was a WHOLE chicken. Sauce was a sweet soysauce flavor. The chicken was moist and not over cooked. There was so much chicken, we couldn't finish and I took it home as left overs. Steamed Garoupa ($68). This was also super inexpensive. Size portion was enough for two people and then some. Fish was steamed ok and not over cooked. Definitely fresh tasting fish. With 10%, our meal came out to around $160. That's $80 per person. Cheaper than a lot of other places and whole lot more filling and good tasting food. Always go for the deals at Tao Heung. For cheap, more bang for your buck eating, this is the place to be.
