I was very delighted a friend from oversea came to celebrate my 2x birthday. Not much research was done beforehand, just wanna had something good in Central, let's fix Spanish cuisine first. My colleague recommended "Fofo by el Willy" having received words of mouth from her Spanish teacher, where offering traditional dishes, why not have a try?Only outdoor seats were available on the same-day reservation, and discovered there's kind of outdoor lounge at FoFo's roof (similar to Halan's). My colleague recommended "Fofo by el Willy" having received words of mouth from her Spanish teacher, where offering traditional dishes, why not have a try?
Only outdoor seats were available on the same-day reservation, and discovered there's kind of outdoor lounge at FoFo's roof (similar to Halan's). This surely is a choice for drinks & chit chatting under this nice view, while indoor is definitely better for dinner, especially cold at night.
We arrived around 7pm, saw a lot of empty tables indoor but regrettably reserved, waitress was so nice to offer us one as long as we could hand over to them at 9:30pm. Thank you.
Pickled Garlic, Gherkins and Olives
I was satisfied with this appetiser - two slices of bread with tomatoes on. Olives, garlic were both fresh. Free
I preferred red wine personally, on the other hand, struggling how could Sangria be ignored from Spanish cuisine? My friend ordered Sangria red, and Sangria white for me,which were so-so merely, sigh, I am still not able to find the flavour I had in Spain. Friends, if you want other wine/champagne, please move on.
Tapas we had:
Scallop ceviche with avocado & shallot dressing - 6pcs
Why I ordered this was because of popularity on OpenRice. I was quite disappointed, scallops texture were a bit al dente, they did serve with avocado underneath plus excessive oil, very greasy indeed. Negative impression.
It came with good presentation, neatly and full of crab meat at the top, while seemed like pulling out from the fridge after one bite. Crab meat & vegetable were stacked layer in layer, a definitely refreshing dish.
Lobster Soup (Half Portion)
Full of lobster smell and rich in soup.
Friendly waitress suggested serving suckling pig in half portion, that is kind of service we always look for when dinning out, enable us to try different dishes without wasting food. I have ever had suckling pig like FoFo's, it was not only crispy at skin, but also soft inside, I was extremely amazed by this just-perfect-combination. Thanks to my friend who insisted to opt for this, it was definitely over my expectation and far better than those Chinese restaurants. A MUST TRY DISH.
I was intending to order "Tortilla", thought captioned was similar to Tortilla, but it was actually slim French fried with fried onions. I chose to mix them with hams to leverage the savory. You can see few table spoons of oil at the bottom after consuming deep. Fair In general.
Lobster, mushrooms & artichokes Juicy Rice (Half portion)
Heard Paella is fair in Fofo from recent comments, I picked Lobster rice instead. A single original lobster was sitting at the top with strong flavour. Waitress took initiative to peel off the shell skin before we voicing out. Excellent service. Lobster & sauce were cooked to perfection, the only drawback I'd say was the rice itself, too tough to absorb sauce, and ruined my appetite on it.
Another surprise from my friend, Pudding along with "Happy Birthday" on the plate, dessert itself was rich & smooth. Unbelievably above average.
Other Info. :
Waitress kept replacing dirty plates right after every dish, and we were not asked to leave by 9:30pm finally.
Chef, please reduce oil in cooking is my opinion.:D
