Been looking for decent coffee bar in HK, can't find anything, ANYTHING! Not since Cafe Corridor in Causeway Bay 3 years ago. Unfortunately, CC no longer exist. Been looking for decent coffee bar in HK, can't find anything, ANYTHING! Not since Cafe Corridor in Causeway Bay 3 years ago. Unfortunately, CC no longer exist. But luckly, I am now a friend of CC's owner, Felix. Anyway, back to what I am about to say, regarding to Epoch. Great interior, great ambience. I suspect that they were the illy cafe from Tsim Sha Tsu (basement of the Prestige Tower, below Benetton), which also no longer exist. I also was planning to visit the "illy cafe" in central, Lang Quai Fong, that no longer exist too !!?? I have visited Epoch 3 times so far since mid December 2006. Impressed only by the setup, not their espresso preparation. Second visit, I finally could not help but made a big fuss about the double ristretto I ordered, (with special instruction on how I would like it made). Sure enough, it turned out to be a disappointment. The barista did not know that I was watching her like a hawk. She combined one of the shot from a previous order (about a minute ago) with another shot a minute later (my order), poured together from 2 demitasse cups into 1. Therefore, I asked my order be made again from scratch. The server tried to explain (routine HK way ... "ah ... hai gum ka la, or day de espresso hai gum BLAH BLAH BLAH") she thought I do not know what I am drinking ! But I insisted, so she brought it back to the barista, who (facial expression) shown a little impatient. <-- that, I totally expected, because I am a barista too, and I can comprehend how she might react. Second attempt on the double ristretto, turned out to be a double lungo !! <SIGH> I give up! I quickly finished my drink and told the barista what I do as a living, and left. I felt that I need to say something to her because I don't want them (the staffs) to think that I am trying to be a ignorant coffee snob.
