Been here a few times early this year and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, my recent visit reflected that the service has deteriorated and this cafe was no longer a decent place for chit chat.We came here during lunch hour and were surprised to see that only 2 tables were occupied. We ordered one Chai Chai (Some kind of Indian tea) to go. 10 minutes went by, and nothing happened. We came here during lunch hour and were surprised to see that only 2 tables were occupied. We ordered one Chai Chai (Some kind of Indian tea) to go. 10 minutes went by, and nothing happened. One table ordered three fruit smoothies and the very loud grinding sounds came from the mixer kept interrupting our conversation. There was no air conditioning and the windows were all shut. Very hot and noisy environment. The young waitress taking orders was polite but definitely an amateur. She forgot that we were waiting for take away and handed as the food menu after we sat there for 10 minutes. The other female waitress behind the cake display pulled a long face when we asked for our tea. It took us another 10 minutes until the tea arrived. Unprofessional.
This was not the first time I came here for take away hot tea and the waiting time had never been as long. The service was a lot worse than my last visit. The young waitress lacked confidence and seemed to be unsure what was going on. The young female bartender seemed to be very unsatisfied and upset with her job even there weren’t that many customers at that time.
The Chai Chai was ok-ish. It had a strong hint of herbs but I could also taste the texture of powdery green tea. The combination of Oriental tea and Indian Herbs was surprising. However, the bottom part of the tea was muddy and I think it should be filtered out before handing it to customers.
The male manager (boss?) who gave me his name card before seems no longer stay in the cafe and all the more responsible waitresses are now gone. I am not sure why the management wants to hire amateurs to take responsibility of this reputable cafe, which is originally a rising star in Sheung Wan district.
I suppose a cozy cafe by no way means inefficient and unprofessional services are accepted
