Met boyfriend after work where he took me here for Chinese vegetarian. Chinese vegetarian food is way different than Western as Western food focuses on the actual vegetable while the Chinese just make their vegetables look like meat. And in the case of this place...sushi.

For someone who can't read Chinese, you wouldn't know this was vegetarian as the sign and all writing was in Chinese and all the photos look like ... meat. But oddly, sitting down, the menu was in both English and Chinese. With photos of the food. Not only did they serve Japanese, they had Chinese food, too. Like half a "chicken". And seriously, the photo looked like a chicken thigh, skin and all.

We ordered four dishes. Shredded chicken, beef rolls with enoki mushrooms, assorted sushi for two and soft shell crab rolls.

Shredded chicken tasted just like chicken. It had the same texture. What is it for real? I don't know. The addition of preserved vegetables made it a bit spicy. But fairly good tasting dish.

Beef rolls with enoki mushrooms was a bit messy in presentation. But again, the beef had the same texture and taste as beef. What it was for real....I don't know. But tastewise, it was pretty good.

Soft shell crab rolls were also really good. Although portions were huge. The "soft shell crab" was tempura nori and extremely crunchy.

Assorted sushi for two, yes, looked like sushi. There was "salmon", "tuna", "crab stick", "abalone", "shark fin", mango "salmon", egg, tofu and cucumber sushi. This was the most bizarre thing I put in my mouth. The salmon and tuna had the same slippery texture as fish. It even had the same fishy taste. It even looked like it. The abalone tasted like abalone. The sushi rice had a taste of vinegar. They even added wasabi in the sushi so no need to add more even though they give you a plate of wasabi and soy sauce.

You know how sometimes you leave thinking to yourself what did you just eat....I felt exactly that. It looked like meat. It tasted like meat. It felt like meat. But it wasn't meat. I'm so confused.

Portion size is huge. I was so full. It was also cheap.

Would I return? Unsure. But I'd recommend to friends for a meatless Monday.
