I have no interest in cafes at Lok Fu shopping arcade . Therefore, I just walked a short distance outside the shopping centre looking for eateries. I saw M18 which served 5 dinner sets including three kinds of pizza and two kinds of spaghetti. Breads and cakes are also provided. I saw Maxim promotion at a counter. I asked the cashier whether it is Maxim’s Caterers Ltd and the answer is positive. I could say this is high-class version of fast food café. Orders food at counter and takes drink by myself. The waiter would deliver the rest.

I choose Carbonara which came with day of soup. It was quite a big cup of bisque soup. I was a bit astonished by the flavour of the soup as it was unexpectly full of seashell flavour. How could I expect $70-ish of dinner set can serve this kind of soup! It was considerate that the black pepper was sprinkled on top which it could be gotten rid of easily as I didn’t want it. I could enjoy a dinner set, not lunch set with quality of soup which was out of my expectation. At this price level of dinner, I only expect a tasty main dish, not sides. The only complaint was a bit over salty of the soup.

The presentation of the spaghetti was good. Some cheese powder was dusted on top of a few slices of bacon and the dish was creamy by the impression of the sauce. The baguette was placed on one side of the dish over spaghetti. As for the flavour of spaghetti, it was al dente with creamy and sticky mouthfeel. It seemed to me that there was row egg coating on the spaghetti. However, it was not eggy. Though I could not tell what flavour it was, the flavour was alright but it also a little bit over salty for me but acceptable.

The baguette came with the spaghetti , not with the soup. I understood that this would save a serving dish and time. At this price, I does not request a strict rule that it should come with the soup. I was happy that the baguette was thick and long in size. It was crispy with fluffy mouthfeel, not hard. The taste was satisfactory .

I got coffee for the set. Just a little “President” milk was added and the coffee was alright for me.

The environment was quite nice. Not many dinners in this café and so it was not noisy. Subtle lightening and soft music was playing which made dinners relaxed. Actually, the quality of food at this price level was reasonable. It is worth to try.

Other Info. : There was a long table with about 6 high seats. Other tables are 2 to 4 regular seatings.
