The food quality is promising at Lifetastic. We had fried calamari and cheese rings as starter. The rings rested on a bed of rocket with balsamic vinaigrette drizzled on top. Though it was fried, it was not greasy nor too dry - like how fried things should be. The dressing really elevated the whole dish by adding an additional layer to the flavour. Yet, the cheese rings are a bit overpowered by the batter as there the dough is a bit on the thicker side. The calamari were fine. We ordered a salad

We ordered a salad as well - greens were very fresh (which is quite rare in HK restaurants) which is a very commendable.

As for the main, we had crab meat linguine with salmon roe and mentaiko (cod roe). The funny thing is this actually arrived before the starter - but I will let this pass for this is not a very formal dining setting. Anyways, Lifetastic has nailed the key to great pasta: al dente noodles. The mushrooms were a surprise to the dish - one, I did not expect them; two, they totally add a lot more depth to the whole pasta and made the dish a lot more interesting (instead of having a slap in the face with all seafood in there). The sauce has good consistent as well - a sufficient amount to coat the noodles without making it look like a soup noodle.

Dessert is undoubtedly the highlight of the mealt. We ordered two cakes: the signature strawberry and watermelon cake, and a tropical cake. The strawberry and watermelon cake is definitely a must-try. A 2 cm-thick watermelon is sandwiched between rose scented cream followed by a cake layer, then topped with strawberries. The flavours and texture came together in perfect harmony like summer in a bite. For the other one, it is a layered cake with coconut sponge cake and mango cream. One thing great about is that the coconut is not overly powering so the cake maintains its lightness. Side note: all of their cakes are visually stunning.

Last note one ambience and service: The atmosphere is good for chats and I’ve got no complains for the service.
