I was in the Kowloon Bay area with boyfriend, waiting for a friend. As I was REALLY hungry, I decided we eat here while we waited. Yomenya Goemon Japanese Spaghetti serves up all sorts of Japanese inspired pasta dishes. As it was during afternoon tea session, we were given an afternoon menu.
Menu is in English and Chinese. Sets include a drink. If you order a side dish, you get a salad. If you order a pasta, you get a bowl of soup. Prices are $48 so was fairly cheap.
The clear Japanese soup was exactly this. A clear bowl of soup that just tasted like dashi. Really nothing to write home about. It was just water mixed with dashi powder.
Boyfriend ordered the peperoncino spaghetti with octopus and squid ($48). It was a little spicy but not too much. Just a touch to give it a kick. The pasta was al dente. Octopus and squid were tender enough. Over all for $48, it wasn't so bad.
I ordered the avocado and shrimp spaghetti with genovese sauce ($48). The sauce was creamy and I did like the addition of avocado. I wouldn't have thought to add that to pasta. The shrimp was firm and fresh and the pasta was al ente as well. Overall, not bad at all.
I think I came in thinking the worst but it turned out not too bad at all. It wasn't great but it was ok. The soup was a lot to be desire but the pasta was pretty solid. Served up exactly what I liked about Japanese style pasta. And for this price, pretty cheap and good value for a quick bite just to fill your tummy for what's ahead.
