Recently tried out Giovanni Pina located at K11 Musea. Apart from their famous cakes and pastries, they also have an all day menu that features a wide range of Italian inspired dishes.

We ordered their “Ciao Menu” which comes with a starter, main, signature cake of your choice and a choice of coffee or tea.

Pic 1️⃣: Tiramisu “My way”
— I was so overwhelmed by the selection of cakes but finally decided to settle for a classic tiramisu. A bit on the dry end, with the sponge cake layer being quite firm. However, taste was quite good. The zabaglione cream was smooth with a hint of marsala wine to it. Personally thought the mascarpone could be a little smoother and less sweet as the sweetness really masked the other flavours in the tiramisu. Loved the aroma coming from the coffee rum, allowing it to seep through each layer, creating an interesting blend of flavours.

Pic 2️⃣: Sacher all’Italiana
— One of their signature cakes that I had to try out. Their recipe reduces the proportion of butter and sugar, creating a lighter and fresher taste. It also makes use of white rum, which is much sweeter and delicate, as opposed to black rum. The decadent chocolate ganache glaze adds richness to the cake and is perfect for chocolate lovers.

Pic 3️⃣: Homemade Calzone with Roasted Vegetables and Wild Mushrooms - ($228 hkd for the set)
— Inside of the calzone was too soggy as the vegetables hadn’t been drained properly. Flavours were alright, tomato sauce was on the thinner end and quite sweet, and the cheese was where most of the flavour came from. Personally did not enjoy the pink peppercorns on this because they really clashed with the rest of the elements on the plate and overall just not that great to eat.

Pic 4️⃣: Tiger Prawns Gnocchi - ($268 hkd for the set)
— Quite disappointing. Almost as if they forgot to add any sort of salt/seasoning to the dish. The sauce was flavourless and the prawns were not seasoned beforehand. The gnocchi was overcooked and very soft.

Pic 5️⃣: Tomato and Burrata Salad
— A satisfying salad. Burrata was creamy and smooth, vegetables were fresh and crisp. Balsamic dressing was overly sweet in my opinion.

Pic 6️⃣: Cream of Corn Soup
— Pretty good soup. Flavourful with a good consistency.

Pic 7️⃣: Caffé Milani House Coffee
— Quite an acidic blend. But overall a good way to end the meal. Especially love the complimentary mini blueberry tart on the side!

📍Ambiance: beautiful interior and decor, spacious seating, staff are friendly, great for casual dining
